Advisory

The purpose of advisory is to provide daily personalized support. Advisories foster our belief in being a community of learners born of respect, trust and courage. Advisory groups of approximately 10 students meet daily with a staff advisor who provides support for the group and each student. Our research indicates that the most critical element of a culture of safety and inclusion is dependent on positive relationships. Our advisories are particularly focused on fostering positive relationships.

Completion of four years of Advisory with a grade of a ‘P’ (Pass) is required for graduation. Each year of advisory has a particular purpose.

Grade 9 –To provide students with a small, supportive community in which they can learn and practice the behaviors and skills needed to become successful, responsible, and involved leaders in the Souhegan community.

Grade 10 –To reflect on individual growth and to identify learning styles based on the Division 1 experience in order to transition to Division 2.

Grade 11 –To apply knowledge of himself/herself to their Division 2 experience as well as to prepare for life after Souhegan High School.

Grade 12 –To apply his/her identified passions to their culminating experience as they move beyond Souhegan High School.
